Last Night Kitchen (for us)

Last Saturday Andy and I presented our last Night Kitchen.  The reins have been handed over to the Dead Sheep Scrolls so you can attend their first show on Saturday January 4 2014!  They will be running the show on the first Saturday of the month until June, and then from September on.
Here are the videos of our performance...

These two with the Funtime Brigade!

Band Concert at CPA

Ok, that was very cool. We had a fantastic time talking, rehearsing and performing with the students in the Charles P. Allen Wind Ensemble ♥ at their school. Here is Eye to Eye (one of the songs that Nathan Beeler arranged), filmed from the sound booth way up high.

Concert at Charles P. Allen High School!

We're very excited to be performing at the new Charles P. Allen high school on Thursday Nov 7 with the Charles P. Allen High School Wind Ensemble!  They will be performing a set, we will be performing a set and we will be performing two of our tunes with them!  How cool...  Nathan Beeler - band teacher extraordinaire, has scored 2 of our original songs for wind ensemble!

All are welcome, the concert begins at 7pm in the Charles P. Allen High School Performance Space (200 Innovation Drive, Bedford)  and it is free admission (donations gratefully accepted).

Summer Fun...

So this weekend we were at the Acoustic Maritime Festival at Kempt Shore NS.  Mark Bezanson joined us for a set on Thursday and here is some video footage we found to prove it (Thanks PhotogAE!)

In other news our Echo died (permanently) on our way to the festival on Friday so RIP little Echo. No more Going on the Road for you.  I feel some A/C in our future...

Rising with the Moon in Ontario

Ontario this spring was super fun, we got to see lots of new places and faces.  One of these was Mark Brewer of ImageFM in Hamilton who made some live videos of us while we were there. (Thanks Mark!) Wait, here's one now:

After which we went and had a great show at Artword Artbar.  Any Hamiltonians out there who have yet to visit should go now.  Other good times had are too numerous to mention so i'll just leave it at that!

The new CD can be found at TAN Cafe and Box of Delights Bookshop in Wolfville, and online from Bandcamp and CD Baby.

This summer we're looking forward to a variety of gigs around Nova Scotia, including an appearance at the Acoustic Maritime Music Festival on Thursday July 20th and one at EVOLVE in Antigonish on Sunday July 22nd!  On Sunday Sept 2 we will also be taking part in the Lahave Folk Festival.  For other shows check our calendar.

The Nirvana in Fredricton NB

This Tuesday, we performed at Nirvana in Fredricton. What a place! Ariana had herself a yoga lesson with Marchell Coulombe, yoga instructor extraordinaire, while Andy enjoyed local organic brew products and some of the most awesome vegan cuisine north of the south pole. The show was attended by local Quakers and Yogis and a great atmosphere. We're starting our Ontario string of shows this Friday with a shared bill in Kitchener.

What we did last week

So, highlights of last week include performing at both New Minas Elementary and LE Shaw schools!  The students at those schools have a great music teacher, Olivia Frampton, who has been organizing concerts and demos every month (upcoming - digeridoo and marimba among other percussion instruments!).
We did 45 minute concerts (with questions and answers of course) for 320 Grades P-5 students at New Minas and around 130 Grades P-5 students at LE Shaw.

At New Minas there was a lot of great clapping along, snapping along, and dancing (happy mayhem!)

LE Shaw's concert began at 8:45 which was slightly challenging for us (our earliest gig ever we think) but we made it and it turned out really well. We had lots of fun and the kids seemed to have lots of fun too. They even helped Andy out with his vocal percussion on a few songs. Later on that same day we received an envelope full of drawings and cards from the Grades 1 and 2 classes.  I am attaching a photo gallery because they're really sweet!  Notice all the cool high hats.

It's November

So, after a week of mainly things going wrong, (flu being one of the things) we are getting back to normal.  Normal right now involves working on a CD for Karen Warner, getting ready for Jamie Junger's CD Release of "Fishin' for Pickles" and enjoying the last (?) warm days of summer.  This fall we have been having extremely awesome weather, all of which was owed to us after the miserable wet catastrophe that was last fall.

A few shows coming up...

Sat Nov 26 we'll perform at Paddy's Pub in Wolfville from ~9-12 with Adam and Chris (should be a nice time).

Sun Nov 27 we will be backing up Jamie and Sadie Junger at their CD Release at the Baptist Vestry in Chester from 2-5pm.  This will certainly be fantastic, as you would know if you had seen any of Jamie and Sadie's previous performances.

Fri Dec 2 will be Harry's War Child Extravaganza at the Whittle.  We'll be doing a set with Chris and Adam at that show as well as helping on some songs from Harry and the Hupmans.

Sat Dec 3 is Night Kitchen, in which we are not performing.  It'll be a great amazing show.

Fri Dec 9 will be our annual xmas show with Darren Arsenault at Petite Riviere Fire Hall.  This is always a blast, as of course anything involving Darren typically is.
